Wengen lies on a sunny terrace 400 m above Lauterbrunnen. It is a car free village and can be reached either from Lauterbrunnen or from Grindelwald through Kleine Scheidegg for wanderers and skiers. Wengen is 16 km to Interlaken.

Wengen faces the Jungfrau and offers a fantastic panoramic view over many other Bernese Oberland snow peaks. Mürren is opposite Wengen on the other side of the Lauterbrunnen valley.

The key excursion destinations within the Wengen and Jungfrau region can all be reached easily from Wengen. Climbers on the Eiger north face – one of the world’s most spectacular and difficult climbing faces – can be observed by telescope from the Kleine Scheidegg. The Jungfraujoch can be reached by railway at a high of 3454 m. In winter the three regions Grindelwald-First, Wengen/Kleine Scheidegg-Männlichen and Mürren-Schilthorn together offer a total of 213 km of ski runs ranging from fast to leisurely. Be the spectator of the famous breathtaking Lauberhornrennen, FIS World Cup race in January. A total of more than 40 percent of the ski runs are equipped with snow blowers. In the Jungfrau Region however, non-skiers also get much pleasure with 100 kilometres of winter footpaths enabling them to explore the mountains on foot.

Furthermore, with its countless toboggan runs, the region is a real paradise for tobogganing. Amongst them is the longest toboggan run in the Alps.

The Jungfrau region counts 4 villages, Wengen, Mürren and Lauterbrunnen and Grindelwald,. Wengen and Mürren are car free.
